Congratulations on being pregnant! You hope, I am sure, to enjoy this wonderful, natural experience of pregnancy, which yoga can only enhance.
Yoga helps to maintain health and relaxation while pregnant.
Yoga is an holistic system with various techniques designed to complement each other, many having been borrowed by others in 'stretch and relax' or 'stress relief' classes.
Yoga and pregnancy classes will work with combining the breath with movement and stretching, breathing techniques for use in relaxing and 'letting go' and deep relaxation. These techniques work with each other to promote greater health and vitality, with a mind and body in harmony, so beneficial in pregnancy. The course will cover the above topics with the aim of helping women to give birth naturally and joyfully; helping them to feel well prepared.
During the first stage (trimester), it is best to err on the side of caution, to cut down on activity and rest when possible, due to the risk of miscarriage in the first 14 weeks. Always check with your doctor if you are unsure, as yoga is not a substitute for medical health. You will need to wear loose, comfortable clothing with socks for relaxation.
A mat or blanket is needed to lie on, together with cushions or a beanbag if you have one.Yoga is the ideal system to follow during pregnancy, giving you the opportunity to take charge of your own fitness at this exciting stage in your life.
I look forward to meeting you.
