We
have all walked the streets of London, so this course will help us to
understand some of the history behind the streets. When? why? and how?
are just three of the questions we will be asking when we set out to
discover theStreets of London and its buildings.
The course starts after the Great Fire 1666, and takes us through the
Georgian Squares and on to Regency London. We find the development of
our glorious parks, and the industrial Thames. We then discover the
scientists, painters and architects who fashioned the London we know
today,Real London will be found in our four conducted walks.
A practical course using old documents, maps and films, enabling those
who wish to go out and discover London on their own walkabouts. Two
guided walks each term. The tutor is a qualified City of London Guide
with more than 25 years experience, this is a great opportunity to learn
more about London.
Further information
is available for those wanting to explore further (and perhaps even
take others on walks themselves!)
